The Embassy of the Italian Republic in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), organized the concert “A Tribute to Ennio Morricone Oscar Film Scores” performed by “Il Quintetto” on Wednesday 4 October 2023 at 8 PM at Cultural Hall on the occasion of the 32nd Bahrain International Music Festival.

The Quintet paid homage to one of the greatest film soundtrack composers of the 20th century, the “Maestro” Ennio Morricone (1928-2020), with whom they had the honor of working throughout their career.

The ensemble performed twelve musical compositions created by the Maestro for iconic world-famous drama films and westerns. Among the soundtracks reproduced: Cinema Paradiso (1988), winner of the BAFTA award, Mission (1986), winner of the Golden Globe and BAFTA awards, and the soundtracks of the international box office successes directed by Sergio Leone (Once upon a time West (1968), A Fistful of Dollars (1964), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966).

The theater registered a gull house and were present many Authorities including the President of BACA, H.E. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, representatives of Bahraini institutions and embassies, civil society such as students of the “Grazia Deledda” Italian Language and Culture Center and Italians residents in Bahrain.

The Italian Ambassador H.E. Paola Amadei thanked H.E. Shaikh Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, President of BACA, for the renewed invitation to participate to the Festival and the BACA team for their collaboration in making the concert possible. “The Bahrain International Music Festival is an event that brings together musicians from all over the world, symbolizing Bahrain’s openness to cultural diversity and its strong focus on art. It is always a pleasure to present masterpieces of Italian music such as the award-winning soundtracks composed by the great Ennio Morricone, and to see such a high participation, which demonstrates the continuous appreciation and affection of the Bahraini community for our country“.
