VISA: ONLINE PORTAL “IL VISTO PER L’ITALIA”
All the information on visas for foreigners intending to come to Italy, including requirements, fees, documentation forms and conditions to get a visa, are available on the dedicated online portal “Il visto per l’Italia”, managed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, available here.
A guided procedure will help you decide if you need to apply for a visa based on your nationality, country of residence, reasons for your visit and length of stay.
If you need a visa for Italy, you will be provided with all the information and forms needed to submit your application.
- Submission of the required documentation does not automatically guarantee visa issuance.
- Upon entering Italy and the Schengen Area, even if you have a visa, Border Authorities are authorized once again to check the documents required for issuance of the visa.
- The information provided on the web portal “Il visto per l’Italia” applies only to holders of an ordinary travel document. Holders of diplomatic or service passports are kindly requested to contact the Italian Embassy for specific instructions at the following email address: email@example.com

WHEN DO I CAN APPLY FOR A VISA?
Visa applications may be lodged up to six months before the start of the intended journey and, as a general rule, no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the journey.
WHERE DO I CAN SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A VISA?
For short-stay visas (up to 90 days), the Italian Embassy in Manama makes use of the collaboration of the company VFS Global, which manages the “Italy Visa Application Center” in Bahrain.
Schengen visa applications for travel with the main destination in Italy and Malta can therefore be presented at the aforementioned Visa Application Center.
However, it is possible to submit the Schengen visa application directly to the Embassy, which remains exclusively competent to deal directly with requests for national visas, long-term visas (study, mission, family reunification, etc.) and short-term visas (EU family members, official delegations, etc…).
For information and to book an appointment, please contact the Visa Office at the following email address: email@example.com
VFS Global is limited to collecting the dossiers and does not play any role in the evaluation of entry visa applications and the resulting decisions at no point in the procedure.
The decision to grant or refuse the requested visa belongs exclusively to the Embassy of Italy in Manama, which evaluates visa applications in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Visa Code.
