The Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Andrea Catalano, hosted a ceremony at his Residence to commemorate the victims of the war in Ukraine on the occasion of the third anniversary of the Russian aggression.
“Italy is committed together with its partners and allies to the constant work to achieve a lasting peace that guarantees a strong and prosperous future for Ukraine. It is therefore necessary to implement a robust framework of security guarantees capable of ensuring that war is no longer an option” declared Ambassador Catalano at the beginning of his speech.
“In these three years – continued Ambassador Catalano – the Italian position has been very clear: a constant call to re-establish respect for international law, the principle of sovereign equality, independence and dignity of every state regardless of its size. This firm position, adhering to the principles set forth in the Charter of the United Nations and international law that form the basis of the support of the Italian Republic and the European Union and has allowed Ukraine to resist the violence of weapons“.
In conclusion, the Ambassador expressed his most sincere hope that the Russian Federation will return to play an important role in the international community in compliance with the principles of international law and in respect of the dignity and sovereignty of all States.
The commemoration was attended by many members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bahrain, including the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dmytro Senik, and a large representation of the Ukrainian community in Bahrain.
