Dear fellow citizens,<\/p>\n

Today, June 2nd, is the Italian National Day. I would like to extend my very best wishes to you and your families on behalf of us all at the Embassy.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the conditions imposed by the pandemic do not yet allow us to celebrate this anniversary together, in person, as we would have wished, only virtually.<\/p>\n

The restrictions caused by the increase in Covid cases in Bahrain in recent days reminds us once again of how dangerous the virus is and requires us to pay the utmost attention to the compliance with prevention measures. My thoughts go first and foremost to the many victims of the pandemic, in our country, here in Bahrain, and around the world. It has been a tough year. The pandemic disrupted our lives, our habits and even the way we work.<\/p>\n

The pandemic has taught us that only a greater and responsible international collaboration makes it possible to address global challenges such as health and environmental protection. Italy, a founding member of the European Union, a member of the G7 and current president of the G20, has always been committed to promoting multilateral solutions to global challenges. Thinking of the recent World Health Summit that was held in Rome on May 21 and the Co-Presidency together with the United Kingdom of the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (the Cop Youth will be held in Milano).<\/p>\n

It has been a difficult year for all of us. In spite of the adverse conditions in which we found ourselves operating, the Embassy staff and I made every effort to carry out our service to the best of our ability and to respond to all the needs presented to us. It has been a year of great sacrifice. Though, we are beginning to see a light. The increasingly lighter colors of our regions on the map of our country indicate a decrease in infections. The progressive reopenings give us hope for an imminent return to normalcy. We all need it. Our economy needs it, our companies need it to be able to compete as protagonists with ambition and determination on global markets.<\/p>\n

Despite these circumstances, relations with Bahrain have made significant progress during the past year. The commercial exchange has increased, in the first months of 2021 compared to the same period last year, Italy has established itself as the first European exporting country in Bahrain and the eighth internationally, gaining six positions, confirming the special and sincere appreciation that here, as elsewhere in the world, is reserved for Made in Italy, technology and research, beauty and creativity of our products. We have organized numerous webinars for the benefit of our entrepreneurs. The hope is that we will be able, as soon as possible, to organize events in presence, whether they are commercial, cultural or artistic.<\/p>\n

I have had the opportunity on several occasions to see how much the Italian community is appreciated and esteemed here in Bahrain. I would like to express my sincere thanks for your contribution to the promotion of our country in the Kingdom of Bahrain.<\/p>\n

With a look of confidence towards the future and with a spirit of service, I send my best wishes to all of you.<\/p>\n
