Bilateral relations

Bilateral relations

Cooperation between Bahrain and Italy was strengthened when, in 2002, political and economic reforms were introduced in Bahrain, paving the way to the current constitutional system. In the same year, the Embassy of Italy was opened in Manama, launching a more intense relationship with the local authorities in Manama, promoting more frequent bilateral political meetings alongside various forms of increased collaboration on multilateral aspects. Economically, relations are growing both on the commercial and investment sides and there remains unexplored potentials.
The first state visit to Italy by H.M. the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which took place in July 2008, was in itself a key moment in the history of bilateral relations, as well as a strong foundation for their further development.
